Subliminal Advertising?

Posted by The Grumpiest in Gross

Some guy was watching Iron Chef America the oher day and thought he noticed the screen quickly blink red. Thanks to the magic of the Dish Network DVR, he could watch it again in to slow motion.

Sure enough, Food Network is apparently allowing McDonalds to run subliminal advertisements in the middle of their programming!

I noticed the red flash while watching Iron Chef, and thanks to the magic of TiVo, rewound and framed-forward to find the McDonalds ad. I’m glad I’m not the only one to find it. Does McDonalds really think that its viewers are going to crave Big Macs after seeing their logo flash onscreen during a gourmet cooking show?

Why would it possibly be illegal? A television station can run pretty much anything they wish provided the FCC doesn’t care, and the FCC only cares when people complain.
